Getting Into The Health Groove With Ellie Lemons

Today we chat to the very inspirational Ellie Lemons.

Ellie is a a personal trainer with a bachelor of health science, majoring in nutrition and psychology and she is currently studying to become a naturopath. She is a very healthy eater and a model.

She finds she is at her happiest when she is eating well, exercising and taking time for herself!

Tell us a little about your journey and who you are?

My name is Ellie Lemons, i am a nutrition consultant, personal trainer and model. I like to think i am very aware of my body and finding what helps it be in the best shape it can and i love to share this with other people in the hopes of making their lives better. 

I’ve always had a healthy lifestyle thanks to my parents and have enjoyed healthy food and lots of physical activity for as long as i can remember. It comes quite naturally to me and so i love helping others get into the health groove as well! 



What is your health and wellness philosophy?

It’s all about balance! 

What are your ‘non negotiables’ when it comes to your own health and wellbeing? 

Eating well 80% of the time is so important to me, it’s definitely okay to treat yourself but most of the time I eat very well, you only get one body so I try to fuel it with the best fuel I can find. I also make sure I do something exercise wise for 30 minutes a day, even if it’s just a stretch. This helps me stay in sync with myself and feel up-beat and positive. 

You are super active person. What do you believe is the key ingredient when it comes to someone having a successful exercise routine?

Intrinsic motivation, this is a motivation stronger than wanting to ‘look good’ it’s about making yourself stronger or feel healthier. Something more than just what’s on the outside. Also it’s important to keep your workouts interesting with goals – these helps act as motivation! So set small goals, write them down and tick them off when you’ve reached them. It could be, for example; doing a twenty minute run on the treadmill, and once you’ve reached that, doing twenty minutes a bit faster and so forth. That way you’re always reaching towards something and you have a goal, as humans we like to have something to strive to, so that applies in workouts too.


What is your favourite way to move your body?

I love running, I also have a new love of swimming. Yoga makes me feel incredible too, but I really have to be in a calm headspace to do it – I find it very challenging, I’m not very flexible and sometimes find it hard to calm my mind. 

This is one of my favourite questions, because I think it shows that we are all different and there is no one size fits all approach when it comes to nutrition…. What does a typical day look like on your plate?

Breakfast:  oats with coconut oil, water and cinnamon

Lunch : Either poached eggs on rye bread with avocado and spinach or a meat (I love salmon) and salad – normally tomato, spinach, cucumber and avocado. 

For dinner I always have a meat and vegetables – so maybe a steak or chicken with blanched veggies – zucchini, squash, spinach, tomato, avocado and broccoli. 

I only ever use chili, olive oil, salt and pepper for dressing. 

Snacks – I always have a coffee or a chia in the mornings, and if I’m hungry in between meals I’ll have a banana, a herbal tea, or a kiwi.


I believe that how you spend the first 80 minutes of your day sets up how the rest of your day will flow. Tell us about your ideal way to spend the first 80 minutes of your day?

I get up, have some oats (I have to eat straight away or I get too hungry and mean), do my stretches, maybe go for a quick walk, check what’s happening in the world and then shower, get dressed and be on my way. I much prefer my nights as my down time, once I’m home for the day in my pajamas, make up off and on the couch for the rest of the night! 

Do you have any parting advice for readers who may be starting their own health and wellness journey?

Find what works for you, not everything works for everyone, just because your friend loves running doesn’t mean you have to, so my biggest thing to people is find what works for you, find what healthy foods YOU enjoy and what makes your body feel the best when you’re working out.
